Atheism's Heart Attack

Many skeptics of the Bible claim that there is a discrepancy between the Bible and Evolution, and this proves the Bible’s wrong because Evolution “is proven fact.” It’s not. It’s the foundation for atheism and atheism is the foundation of Evolution. Therefore, it’s circular reasoning.

One devastating blow to the atheist is the abundance of missing links that remain missing. Even Lucy, still paraded around as an ape-man, is now known to be fully ape (1). There are billions of fossils that have been found. I would accept Evolution if there were 12 links connecting each variety of animal. So far, the atheist is content to find one link and leave the entire chain otherwise unconnected. This is a problem because a fossil isn’t fossilized fully. Parts are missing.

Another blow is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This law says everything tends toward disorder when LEFT TO IT’S OWN DEVICES! This is a serious blow to the theory that says man is progressing upwards. There is a law going against a theory. The law stays the same: the theory must either be changed or discarded. Unfortunately, the only alternative is special Creation, which implies God.

Another blow is the existence of matter. We have three possibilities: 1. The universe always existed. 2. The universe was created uncaused. 3. The universe was created by the God of special Creation. As the law above proves, the universe had a beginning. This law debunks the eternal-universe theory. Because of this, the atheist is left with only one alternative: The Big Bang. The First Law of Thermodynamics says, although matter can be turned into energy and vice versa, matter cannot be created or destroyed. This is a major stumbling block to the Big Dud, especially with the Law of Cause and Effect. This law says every effect has a cause. So, atheist, what caused the Big Bang?

Another blow is life. Every experiment attempting to create life only created a few of the necessary products. The Urey-Miller experiment’s a dud, because Miller only created 2 amino acids. Both of them were a mix of left-handed and right-handed pieces. Only left-handed pieces are acceptable for amino acids. Nucleotides are all right-handed, so all parts must be right-handed. Additionally, he didn’t have any Oxygen because he knew that would make “life” oxidize. That would kill life, so skeptics claim early Earth didn’t have any Oxygen. However, this property of oxidizing is EXACTLY why Oxygen is so beneficial to us. All the pieces are together, so we don’t experience as much of a negative effect when oxidation occurs within us.

Another problem is how finely balanced life is on Earth. Let us calculate the probability of another Earth existing. This is done by multiplying the probability of all the criteria together. There are many criteria we never even think about, too. Additionally, we are learning more of the criteria annually. These are probably VERY generous to the atheist.

Size of moon= 1 in 6
Distance from moon= 1 in 4
Size and brightness of Sun= 1 in 8
Spiral galaxy= 1 in 3
Size of planet= 1 in 5
Power of magnetic field= 1 in 4
Polarity of magnetic field= 1 in 2
Planets protecting us from meteorites= 1 in 12
Protection from UV rays, gamma rays, X-rays, etc.= 1 in 30
Oxygen-Nitrogen proportions= 1 in 4
Saltiness of oceans= 1 in 4
Distance from supernovae= 1 in 6
Earth’s tilt= 1 in 10
Earth’s rotation speed= 1 in 6
Earth’s revolution speed= 1 in 4
Earth’s water-land ratio= 1 in 3
The fact that water doesn’t contract when it freezes= 1 in 8
Distance from nebulae= 1 in 4
# of atoms in universe= 1 in 600 (1 more atom would probably destroy the universe)
Information for DNA= 1 in 1100
Carbon (No other material is as reactive) near Earth= 1 in 70

These are not all of what life needs to prosper on a planet like Earth. Even if there were 1 followed by 14 zeroes planets, the probability is still 8475799 to 1 against life being accidental. We were designed.

One last blow to atheism is the increasing evidence for a young Earth. I will show 8 Young Earth Creationist (meaning that the owners of these web sites all agree the Earth is young, between 6,000 and 10,000 years old) web sites.

The Reality of the Devil

Does Satan really exist? Many people would say no. However, he does. Evidence for Satan’s existence is all over the globe. From the Holocaust to starvation worldwide to abortion, Satan’s strongholds are everywhere, even within the church. Many Christians deny Satan’s existence, but this is based contrary to Scripture. Jesus said in Luke 10:18 “I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven”. Clearly, He was referring to a real being. Also, when Jesus was tempted, how could Satan have had a conversation with Jesus unless both Jesus and Satan are real.

The Biblical evidence for Satan’s existence is in abundance. Satan is described not as a harmless person with a pitchfork and tail, but as a powerful dragon with seven heads and ten horns, as well as seven tails (Revelation). Jesus compares Satan to a wolf (John 10: 12). I Peter describes him like a lion (I Peter 5:8).

Satan will come to Earth disguised as an everyday person known as the Antichrist. He will trick billions of souls into following him rather than God. The Antichrist will have been miraculously resurrected, possibly Hitler. The Antichrist will have great power because he will be in touch with the “god” within himself. Satan is the god within him. He will receive a fatal wound to his head, yet he will be resurrected. He will create a statue and make it talk. Satan’s goal is to trick as many souls as possible into sharing his eternal abode known as Hell. He wants to keep people out of Heaven.

Thankfully, however, God will defeat Satan and cast the beast, false prophet, and Antichrist into Hell for all of eternity. Also, all the demons will also be cast into the Lake of Fire to spend eternity. Sadly, all who have not accepted Christ as their Savior and accepted God’s forgiveness will also be cast out to spend eternity with them. However, those who have accepted God’s forgiveness will spend eternity in a place that took at least 2,000 years to prepare for all the saints, when this current Earth and the universe were created in only 6 literal days.

To accept God’s forgiveness, just pray this prayer.

Jesus,

I have sinned. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. You are King over my life. I give everything over to You.

Amen.

John 6:37 All that the Father gives me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out.

Cartoon: When Bob is Not Home

I love stuffed animals especially from my days working at Sea World in San Antonio. One day my family made this cartoon for my birthday with my stuffed animals. Sorry it is hard to read the dialogue. Basically the stuffed animals decide to go on adventures without me, watch TV, form a choir, and play computer games.

Non-Biblical evidence for Jesus' Diety

Many atheists claim that Jesus never lived. Muslims and Jews, as well as some Buddhists and even some atheists, say He lived, but He was just a good, moral teacher. However, Christians claim He was God incarnate (in the flesh). Who’s right? Either Jesus never made claims to divinity, in which case He was a good moral teacher or a legend, or He did, making Him either the world’s most wicked sinner, the most insane person of all time, or the God-in-flesh worthy to be worshipped.

Let’s make some predictions based on the models of each possibility and see which model best describes Jesus.

If He never existed, we would expect to find no reference to Him, except for writings that were clearly meant to be legends. We would find nothing dedicated to Him, no books written by Him, no people flocking to hear Him preach, and no evidence He lived.

If He were a good, moral teacher, we would expect evidence for His existence, but no claims to divinity, such as accepting worship, forgiving sins, performing miracles, etc.

If He were a liar, the world’s most wicked sinner, we would expect Him to serve Himself first. Everyone who knew Him would despise Him. No one would willingly follow Him.
However, He would make claims of divinity. However, He would not back it up.

If He were a lunatic, we would expect Him to lose control over His emotions easily, although at times, He might be able to keep Himself under control.

However, if His claims to divinity are confirmed, we have to choose either to worship Him or not to worship Him. One test is miracles, for only one outside of the universe can perform miracles. Another is prophecy, for only one outside of the time continuum can accurately predict the future. Now that all five models have boldly made their predictions, let us look at the evidence.

Evidence for Jesus’ existence comes from the ever-popular historian Josephus, who said in Antiquities of the Jews that Jesus was “a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man,” However, despite this, He never believed Jesus was the Messiah, or Chosen One. Another passage from the same story records James’ martyrdom, describing James as Jesus’ brother. That alone would satisfy some standards of proof for proving someone’s existence from a historical note. Two other historians who mention Jesus would be Cornelius Tacitus and Pliny the Younger. This makes a minimum of three nonbiblical historians confirming Jesus really did exist.

Did He make claims to Divinity? The texts recording some of Jesus’ life would be the Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. All of these record some of Jesus’ claims to be God. They couldn’t be legends because there wasn’t enough of a gap between the events and the recording, at most thirty years.

So the evidence says Jesus really did claim to be God. Was He lying, mistaken or right?

The same documents that record the parts of His life describe how He never served Himself first. If there was one seat left at the baseball park, according to the descriptions of the Gospels, He would only take it if no one else wanted it. Not exactly the kind of thing we would expect from someone who claimed to be God to be self-serving.

Could He have been mistaken? Could He have thought He was God? No. The reason is because an insane person would not always be able to control his or her emotions. We rarely see outbursts of emotions from Jesus. There are two outbursts of emotions that come to mind. The first is Lazarus’ funeral, when Jesus wept. It is understandable that he would cry at his dear friend’s funeral. The only other outburst is when Jesus was at the temple which was being used as a marketplace. This is an understandable outburst. His Name was being dishonored. He made it clear that His House, the church, was to be used for worship, not for making money.

By the way, the New Testament by far exceeds any standard of proof ever made to establish certainty of historical accuracy. In contrast to secular history, which sometimes has only one or, at the best, several documents with a gap of almost a thousand years between the events and the copies, the New Testament has over twenty thousand, with a gap between the events and the first copies being only a couple decades. Quite a feat, considering the lack of people who could read and write, the fact that the printing press wasn’t invented yet, that Jesus was in no extraordinary position, and the strict writing procedure for Scriptures. Any mistake, whether a letter was omitted, added, or even in the wrong space, would mean the scroll would be destroyed.

Paradise on Earth: A short story

What would have happened if Adam and Eve never sinned? Come with me on an imaginary adventure into the Garden of Eden and together we will find out.

Once upon a time, about 6000 years ago, God decided to create a world. The world would be absolutely perfect. The man in charge of the world had everything he could want. He had several computers that could run any kind of program, a 50 inch TV, a car that ran on water, a loving wife, money, a mini-golf course, a shooting range, a mansion, and a large garden. He had everything he wanted.

The only rule was he was to eat of every tree in the garden: but he was not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge between Good and Evil, for the day he ate of it, he would surely die. Other than that, he could do whatever he wished. Man also had a woman to help him, Eve.

Life was beautiful. Bunnies, kangaroos, giraffes, penguins, and snakes would come up to Adam every day and give him a kiss. Adam loved to play soccer with the horses. After they played a while, they would say goodbye and play by themselves. He also went to the ocean and petted dolphins. The orca whales were his favorite sea animal, and the dinosaurs were his favorite land animals. He once had a Brachiosaurus on his baseball team!

His entire job was to take care of the garden God gave him. His favorite part was being able to talk with God. His favorite food was the apples that were the size of a CD-ROM. He loved the grapes that were the size of a baseball. He once ate a banana the length of a book.

One day long before the creation of the earth, there was a rebellion in Heaven. Lucifer, God’s Second-in-Command, rebelled against God. The angels were astounded. No one dared to fight God. No one had ever rebelled against God. To do so was stupid. God created everything. He could even take the gift of life back if He wanted to. God had every power imaginable: shooting fireballs; resisting enemy attacks; calling down a tornado; even raising the dead. Every kind of incredible power was available to God. Not only that, God was loving. Why would someone want to rebel against God? Not only was He all-powerful, He was a kind God. He was like a father to Lucifer.

What would cause Lucifer to hate God? The answer is pride. Lucifer wanted God’s authority and power. God said no and one third of the angels joined Lucifer. However, God’s army overcame Lucifer’s army. He lost and was cast out of God’s estate. Lucifer’s name was changed to Satan and he was cast into Hell to await the final battle, which would take place someday at a town named Megiddo. Satan’s lead soldiers were bound in chains and cast into the lake of fire, where they would spend their time in excruciating pain. (Ezekiel 28, Luke 10:18)

Satan suspected that, in the final battle, he would lose. So he needed even more soldiers than the angels he already had. He would need many men too.

So one day, Satan went to Earth to trick Adam into sinning. However, he knew that He had to sneak by God to do so. He developed a plan.

As Adam was playing hockey with a group of penguins, Satan, who was disguised as a snake, snuck up on him and told him that he could make his own rules.

Listen in on the rest of the conversation:

Satan: “Adam, did you know that God is holding you back from true wisdom?”
Adam: “No, He’s not. You’re just making that up!”
Satan: “No, really. He doesn’t want you to know about good and evil.”
Adam: “I already know what’s good. I don’t want to know about evil.”
Satan: “You can gain every magic power God has and be as wise as Him.”
Adam: “What do I have to do, eat from the Forbidden Tree?”
Satan: “Exactly.”
Adam: “You’re not serving God! You’re leading a rebellion!”
Satan: “I wouldn’t call it a rebellion. I would call it an improved government.”
Adam: “Liar! I don’t believe you! I won’t believe you, not ever,”
Satan: “Suit yourself. You’re missing out on a feast of wisdom.”

At this shout, a lot of animals gathered around to see what was going on. “Don’t do it!” One of Adam’s dinosaur friends shouted. “He is leading a rebellion against God.”

All the animals chorused to Adam not to eat of the Forbidden Fruit. Embarrassed and seeing he was overruled; the snake slithered away as if his life depended on it. And it was. All the animals were chasing it out of the Garden. After the failed attempt to get Adam to sin, the snake snuck back into the garden as a snake (without Satan).

The giraffes lumbered over to poke Adam to tell him good job. He petted them and played soccer with them.

After the event, Adam and Eve had many children. Each one spent much time playing with the animals. Each one was also able to walk and talk with God. No one even thought of smoking or drinking alcohol. People shared with each other and weren’t selfish. They smiled a lot. There was no untimely death, no disease, and no war.

However, people did have swords. The swords were used as toys, to practice fighting with for the sole purpose of exercise. Another popular exercise was archery. Kids could go to school and learn all kinds of fun things. Kids learned about English, Math, Science, History, fitness, cooking, and how to fish. Fish was a very common food. Theology was the most common course taken, for God Himself taught it. People loved school. After every class, everyone ate freshly made cookies. People lived to be a thousand years old.

6,000 years after the Creation, all men were called up into Heaven to join the Final Battle. All angels, men, and demons instantly got transportation to the battlefield. Satan and his army were hopelessly outnumbered. The winner was to receive Heaven for all of eternity. The loser was to receive Hell for all eternity. God and his army defeated Satan and his minions and cast them into the lake of burning Sulfur. God and his army went to Heaven to rejoice and live in a place that made the original Earth pale in comparison.

After the battle, God sat on His throne to judge the enemy army, doomed to the pits known as Hell, chained, where there is eternity of nothing but crying and gnashing of teeth. God and His followers, however, were called up to Heaven, where every kind of pleasure awaited them. Grapes the size of a baseball; turkey legs the size of a bed; computers as advanced as the human brain, capable of running any game or program; waterbeds; CD players; mansions; and many other treasures, where they spent eternity worshipping the one true God.

Dear friend, although this story has fictional elements, it has elements of truth. God is real. Unlike the story, man rebelled against God. God, however, wanted to show mercy and sent His Son to die in our place. God wants you on His side. At the end of the final battle, Satan will be cast down with his soldiers into eternal torment. Don’t join his cause. You will only doom yourself to his torment, too. Satan can promise the moon, but there’s one thing he can’t do: deliver himself or anyone who follows him, from their fate. If you want to join God’s army, just pray this prayer:

Jesus,
I have sinned against You. I know You are my Judge. I deserve to be cast into Hell forever. Please forgive me for my sins. I want to join Your army.

Amen.

Prophecies about Jesus' betrayal, death and resurrection

Do you remember Anakin Skywalker on Star Wars? Episode III was the darkest episode as it showed how Anakin became Darth Vader. We observed how hurt and shocked Obi-Wan Kenobi was when Anakin Skywalker became his enemy. In a sense, God was even more hurt when the descendants of Adam, who was His Creation and friend, rebelled against Him. One of the worst things on God’s behalf was when He sent His only Son to Earth to connect with those he created, but they rejected Him. And yet He wasn’t surprised. In fact, He used the crucifixion to ultimately make Salvation from sin possible for all men.

This blog intends to show the fulfillment of prophesy in the Bible, God’s Holy Word. It shows verses from two parts of the Bible, separated by hundreds of years. The first one or two verses are from the Old Testament. Predictions are made by writers who have no idea who Jesus is. The Bible says that its’ writers were men who were moved by a Spirit. The Holy Spirit of God.

2Pe 1:21 “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

Each prophecy is followed up with a quote from the New Testament, written after Jesus Christ has come. It shows the accomplishment of the previous prophecies. The specific incidences are too exact to be coincidence. There are too many examples to be chance.

A good story in Science Fiction like Star Wars has a villain, evil opposition and so on. It makes the story interesting. In the Bible there is all that, but it isn’t Science Fiction. It is all true. And the result whether we believe it or not has eternal consequences. Eternity in heavenly bliss, or eternity in hell and suffering.

Jesus Betrayal

Prophecy: Psalm 41:9 "Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.-"

Prophecy: Zechariah 11:12-13a " 12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the Lord said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord."

Fulfillment: Matthew 26:14-15 " 14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, 15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver."

Prophecy: Zechariah 11:12-13c " 12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the Lord said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prized at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord."

Fulfillment: Matthew 27:3-5 " 3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself."

Prophecy: Psalm 109:8a "Let his days be few; and let another take his office."

Fulfillment: " 16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. 17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. 18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out."

Prophecy: Psalm 109:8b "Let his days be few; and let another take his office."

Fulfillment: Acts 1:20-26 " 20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and, His bishoprick let another take. ... 24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, 25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. 26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles."

Isn’t this interesting? God tells us not only that Jesus would be betrayed, but also the price He was betrayed for AND how the money would go to the person it would go to. The price Jesus was betrayed for (30 pieces of silver, not 29, not 31), the metal the money would be made out of (Silver, not Gold or Platinum), who it would go to (The potter, not, say, the baker), and how it would get to that person (thrown, not handed to in a deal). How often is it we throw money at a person that we’re trying to buy something from? Also, it’s pretty rare that someone would betray someone else for such a small amount of money. The Scriptures also show that the betrayer would be replaced and have a short life.

His trial

Prophecy: Isaiah 53:7b "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth."

Fulfillment : Matthew 27:12-14 " 12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. 13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? 14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly."

When you or I are charged with a crime, our natural tendency is to open our mouth to defend our case. We would fight back, defend our case, get a lawyer, whatever we could to get out of trouble. Not so with Jesus, the Lamb of God. If you’ve read the story of His death, you will read that, when He stood before Pilate, when asked if He was guilty, He didn’t answer. Before the Sanhedrin, He said, “It is as you say,” This is contrary to human nature.

His death

Prophecy: Genesis 22:14 "And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen."

Fulfillment: Luke 23:33 "And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left."

Prophecy: Psalm 22:16c "... they pierced my hands and my feet."

Fulfillment: Matthew 27:38 "And they crucified him ..."

Prophecy: Psalm 109:4 "For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer."

Prophecy: Psalm 31:5 “ Into Thy hand I commit my spirit; Thou hast ransomed me, O LORD, God of truth.”

Fulfillment: Luke 23:34 "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."

How likely is it that David, centuries before Jesus, knew EXACTLY Jesus’ last words before He died? I find it very unlikely. Yet the first half of this verse tells Jesus’ words to the letter.

Prophecy: Psalm 22:14b "... and all my bones are out of joint ..."

Fulfillment: Matthew 27:35 "And they crucified him ..."

Prophecy: Psalm 22:17a "I may tell all my bones ..."

Fulfillment: John 19:32-33 " 32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. 33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:"

The fact that all of these are so consistent with what really happened is incredible unless one is able to predict the future 100% of the time.

The reason He suffered all of this torment is so you can spend all of eternity with Him. He identified with our sins so He could take them away. In fact, He died the most painful death imaginable for YOU. Even if you were the only person who needed salvation, He still would have come to take your sins upon Himself.

Isaiah 53: 5-6 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

Now, we approach the final category which is perhaps the most difficult to believe for many people.

His Resurrection

Prophecy: Psalm 16:8-10a " 8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 9 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 10 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope."

Fulfillment: Matthew 28:6 "He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."

What is this verse saying? It’s saying God won’t abandon David’s soul to Hell (A real place, by the way). However, all people who die undergo decay. However, this verse says one would die who would not undergo decay? Who is the only one in history whose body never decayed? Several have claimed to have died, but only one can substantiate that claim by showing Himself to multitudes after His death. And, since they would be able to tell an unharmed resurrected person from a badly wounded person, it would be essential for him to have had the wounds to His body healed. Given enough time, many injuries can be healed. However, Jesus had only the 3 days He was in the tomb to heal without any of the necessary food or water. Yet, He appeared only a few days afterwards to His disciples unharmed!

Prophecy: Isaiah 53:10c "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand."

Fulfillment: Revelation 1:17-18" 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."

The prophecy is saying He will live forever. Even today, men don’t live much longer than a century, even if that person’s very lucky. 120 is the world’s record, unless we count people living before the Flood of Noah (a real event, by the way). If we count such people, than Methuselah would get that honor by living 969 years (yes, people really lived that long).

Prophecy: Isaiah 55:3 "Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David."

Fulfillment: Acts 13:34 "And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David."

Prophecy: Isaiah 26:19 "Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead."

Fulfillment: Matthew 27:52-53 " 52And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many."
Thus, we must come to either one of three conclusions.

1. He was lying about being the Messiah, thus earning His crucifixion.
2. He was mistaken about being the Messiah, thus earning a mental hospital.
3. He was correct about it, thus earning our worship.

There were numerous prophecies He couldn’t have influenced or made happen, such as His birth place. Other prophecies He could not have orchestrated would be the resurrection to life after death, being betrayed, and His means of execution.

Therefore, we can readily conclude that He wasn’t a liar. He could not have been a lunatic because of the probability of fulfilling all of those prophecies.

If you read the Bible, you will see a much longer line of prophecies pointing to the Messiah than what I’ve mentioned. Because Jesus fulfilled all of the prophecies referring to the Messiah, we can readily conclude that He was the Messiah, as He claimed. Since this is true, He is worthy of our worship.

If you are convinced that Jesus is the Messiah, please pray this prayer:

Jesus,

I am guilty of breaking your Law. I have not always lived in righteousness. You are my Judge, and I am worthy to be condemned. Please forgive me. I give my life over to You.

Amen.

Prophecies of Jesus' Birth

Qui-Gonn Jinn brought a boy before the council. This little boy was Anakin Skywalker. He was convinced that this blond boy was the foretold jedi who would bring balance to the Force. As he stood in the middle of the jedi council, he spoke passionately about the old writings, saying a child would be born who would enable the Dark Side to be destroyed.

This is Star Wars. Star Wars is science-fiction. However, the Bible has this same message. The Old Testament prophecies point to a child who would destroy Satan and his kingdom. This child the prophets told of is Jesus Christ.

What is prophecy? Prophecy tells us something that will happen in the future. The ability to prophecy correctly 100% of the time is unique to God. The volume of prophecies in the Old Testament that refer to Christ are astoundingly accurate.

There are people who claim Jesus was nothing more than a good, moral teacher. Yes, He was a good, moral teacher. He claimed to be the Son of God. Let’s examine that claim by looking at the fulfillment of prophecies referring to His birth.

The purpose of this blog is to convince people that Jesus Christ really is the Savior of the world as He claims. There is no middle ground on this issue. Either He was correct, as approaching 1/3 of the world’s population believes, including me; or he was wrong. If He was wrong, He was either a liar of such proportions as to have deserved His crucifixion, or He was a lunatic of such a magnitude as to be an extreme danger to society. However, if He was correct, than He is worthy of our praise and our life following Him.

Let’s look at 4 aspects of the fulfillment of prophecy related to Jesus’ coming into the world:

Born of a virgin
Born to a poor family
His name
Specific locations

Born of a virgin

Prophecy: Isaiah 7:14a “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel."

Prophecy: Jeremiah 31:22 "How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man."

Fulfillment: Luke 1:34-35 " 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."

Born to a poor family

Prophecy: Isaiah 11:1b "AND there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:"

Prophecy: Isaiah 53:2a "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him."

Fulfillment: Luke 2:7 "And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manager; because there was no room for them in the inn."

His name

Prophecy: Isaiah 9:6a "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Prophecy: Isaiah 7:14b "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel."

Fulfillment: Matthew 1:21-23 " 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

Locations

Prophecy: Micah 5:2a "But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

Prophecy: Isaiah 49:2b "And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;"

Fulfillment: Matthew 2:1-2 " 1 NOW when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him."

Fulfillment: Matthew 2:13-15 " 13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. 14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: 15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son."

This is a unique way to show how the Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem and yet be taken to Egypt as a young child because traveling in those days was dangerous.

Conclusion:

Now, what can we conclude? We can come to a reasonable conclusion that, since all these prophecies about Jesus were fulfilled without fail, no matter how slight the probability, is it very likely that Jesus was not the Messiah He claimed to be? And yet these are just a few of the prophecies the Messiah must fulfill, just the tip of the iceberg. If you check out all the prophecies in the Bible, the chances are even more remote. Are you ready to take the reasonable step of faith by accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior? Or are you going to have a blind faith that, despite all the prophecies He successfully fulfilled, Jesus Christ could not have been the Messiah? If you’re willing to have the defendable faith that Jesus is Lord, say this prayer:

Jesus,
I am a sinner. Please forgive me for my sins. I want you to come into my life.

Amen.

The Day the Sun Stopped Shining

A short story written 7/22/03

Once upon a time, in the near future, it was a seemingly normal day. Then, at noon, the sky became pitch black. The Sun fell out of the sky, landing next to the moon and the stars. The sky was rolled back. One girl fled into a lightened closet, waiting for the end. Another teenager, a boy, ran into an attic. He trembled in fear. His dad came home early from work (yes, the Sun falling from the sky constitutes early dismissal).

Instantly, millions of panicked people raced home early to hide. Hide from the wrath of God. An earthquake reaching a 27 on the Richter scale destroyed cities in seconds. Suddenly, a beast roamed the Earth, devouring men, women, boys, girls, even infants. His number was 666. He literally ate anyone who didn’t worship him. He performed miracles to persuade even the most righteous people. He succeeded to beat, whip, and kill millions of people. An entire military was defeated by the beast and his prophet. The beast’s name was Lucifer.

A woman with twelve stars on her head was walking home from the doctor’s office. She was pregnant. Lucifer waited by her to swallow the baby as soon as it was born. The baby was born, but as soon as he was, an eagle picked the woman and her child up and dropped her in the forest. The beast created a flood, but the Earth swallowed it up.

Then, an angel of the Lord came down and attacked the beast and his prophet, killing both with one swift stroke of his sword.
